With the heavy proposal season winding down for many, executives with a business development bend will be looking for ways to get back out into the market to reconnect with partners, identify new prospects and get a head start on FY 16. Included below are the top three events happening in October that Fed Health IT leaders from the industry and government will be attending.

The Road Forward – Transforming the Next Generation of Government Agencies

WHEN: Thursday, October 15th, 7:30AM – 11:00AM

WHERE: The Willard Intercontinental Hotel, 1401 Pennsylvania Ave N.W., Washington, DC 20004

FEATURED KEYNOTE: Assistant Secretary & CIO, LaVerne H. Council, Department of Veterans Affairs

In July 2015, Ms. Council joined the Department of Veterans Affairs as the Assistant Secretary for Information and Technology (OI&T) and Chief Information Officer. In this role, Ms. Council oversees the day-to-day activities of VA’s $4 billion IT budget and over 8,000 IT employees to ensure that VA has the IT tools and services needed to support our Nation’s Veterans.

Ms. Council has taken on the largest civilian agency’s IT and she is up to the challenge. After 90 days on the job, she will be joined by a panel of her colleagues to share their thoughts and vision on shaping a government agency to be customer centric and prepared for future challenges. Hold on to your seats!

G2X TAKE: Understandably, the new VA CIO has not been on the speaking circuit this summer as she stayed focused and became acquainted with her new role. That did not stop her from taking some quick and decisive action as she quickly stood up a cyber security SWAT team and recently she has been more vocal in establishing a tone with her staff. While we expect that Ms. Council will be more visible going forward you can expect this event to be packed as this will be one of the first opportunities for many to hear a bit more about some of her plans.

9th DoD/VA and Gov Health IT Summit

WHEN: October 21-22, 2015

WHERE: Alexandria, VA

An educational “Town Hall” forum that will offer you the ability to engage in discussions and debates with senior level speakers and your fellow delegates from DoD, VA, Federal, Industry, and Academia to help solve some of the current pressing challenges, and shape the future of health IT for military health and the Nation…

G2X TAKE: This summit consistently draws a who’s who of leading execs from across the Fed Health IT market and the networking is almost as valuable as the content. This summit typically reaches full capacity quickly, so don’t delay too long if this is an event you are planning to attend. The success of this event is due in part to the fact that they keep their forum off-the record and not for attribution, maintaining a constructive level of shared ideas and thoughts that flow more freely.

2015 ‘Bridging the Gap Between CMS and Industry Conference’

WHEN: Friday, October 30, 2015, 9AM – 3:15PM

WHERE: CMS, 7500 Security Blvd, Baltimore, MD

The 2015 Contracting with CMS Conference will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015, 9:00 am – 3:15 pm Eastern Standard Time at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, 7500 Security Blvd, Baltimore, Maryland 21244. Small and Large business contractors are invited by CMS to participate in the 2015 CMS Contracting Conference. Breakout, networking, and collaboration sessions with CMS contracting and program office personnel and the Small Business Administration are scheduled. Registration is now closed!

G2X TAKE: G2X Health Members received notice of this event on August 17th, and we look forward to seeing some of you there. With the level of activity and the large numbers of bidders for the $25B SPARC IDIQ, this event should prove to be very popular. While this is not exclusively IT focused, between the SPARC industry day, the ACT-IAC event held in July, the IT conference held last month and now this, CMS leaders are as visible as they have ever been.
