G2X TAKE: The web activities at CMS have undergone a major transformation over the last 5 years. From Healthcare.gov to now, the expectations and the way in which CMS procures their web contracts has shifted greatly. It is unclear at this point how/if the addition of Director of the Web and New Media Group Department impacts or is related to the role that Jon Booth plays now – more to come as we have it.
Whereas CMS historically tended to rely on a small set of the subcontractors to run all web activities, we have seen CMS break up many of these larger contracts into smaller components, such as the website development sources sought out last week. With new leadership and a number of new players in place, this will be a high profile position as CMS continues to play an increasingly larger role in the healthcare and engagement of our aging population.
