Veterans Affairs National Director of Mobile Health departs

“I’m writing today to let you know that I will be leaving my position as National Director of Mobile Health at the US Department of Veterans Affairs in the coming days. The past decade of developing digital tools for those who have “borne the battle,” as well as their healthcare providers and families, has been an incredible experience. Since the government is closed and since our network of collaborators past and present are so distributed across VA sites, military bases, academic centers, and private industry, I wanted to take a moment to reflect here about what our work together has meant to me.”

“VA has a long and well-documented history of providing the “best care anywhere.” Not only is it the largest integrated healthcare system in the country, but it serves as the single largest provider of training for physicians and behavioral health providers in the world, a driver of cutting edge medical research, and an engine that produces and disseminates the innovations in care that are taken up around the country and the world. Although those on the outside may not realize, VA is also a gigantic family, and to serve here is to be welcome in hundreds of sites around the country where it is understood that the mission comes first and the most important ROI is the efficient and effective resolution of Veterans’ pain…”
